BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT:
We are pleased to share an update on the progress of Phase I of our church renovation project.
During the week of June 15, the existing flooring was removed from the Sanctuary, Priest Sacristy, and Server Sacristy. At the same time, Blanck Studio began the restoration and painting work throughout the sanctuary, June 22nd.
Significant progress has been made on the restoration. A large structural crack on the south wall, extending from the ceiling to the floor, has been repaired. Additional cracks above the High Altar have also been repaired, and work will continue on cracks in the sanctuary archway.
The High Altar has been primed and painted white, and work is now underway on the gold accents. The main altar and both side altars have also been primed and painted white. Decorative artwork and finishes, were selected on Thursday, July 2.
On the St. Joseph side altar, painting has been completed, including the area surrounding the St. Joseph statue. Work is currently underway on the Blessed Mother side and the area surrounding the Blessed Mother statue.
As the flooring was removed, it was decided to take advantage of the opportunity to update the Priest Sacristy and Server Sacristy. The existing wall paneling has been removed and replaced with drywall. In the coming weeks, the walls and ceilings will be primed and painted, followed by the installation of new decorative molding at both the ceiling and floor.
After removing the three layers of flooring in the Sanctuary, it was discovered that the existing floor structure was sagging. Following evaluation, it was determined that the old floorboards should be removed and replaced to create a flush surface for the new flooring. There is an oak beam running north and south and in good condition. This additional work will cost $4,300. The floor replacement is scheduled for the first week of August, which Enyart's Flooring will complete both installing new floorboards and the installation of the new Sanctuary, Priest and Server Sacristy flooring.
Additional improvements to the Priest Sacristy will include a new entry door, a new sink, and a built-in cabinet along the east wall.
The original Phase I contract with Blanck Studio totals $53,380, which includes:
As work progressed, several additional projects were approved to enhance the beauty and longevity of our church:
We are especially grateful to The Joseph and Maryann Diller Family for their generous gift of $6,000, which will fully fund the repainting and updating of the Stations of the Cross.
The current estimate for Phase II is $100,000. This will be painting the rest of the church along with the choir loft. Along with redesigning of the confessional this winter.
We are grateful for your continued patience, generosity, and prayers as this beautiful restoration continues. Each improvement helps preserve our church while enhancing its beauty for future generations. We look forward to sharing additional updates as Phase I progresses.
